The collection of ‘Materials & Chemicals’ market research reports has a new addition of “In-Depth Research and Forecast of China Phosphorus Chemical Industry, 2013”On marketreportschina.com
Phosphorus chemical products primarily can be divided into two categories: fist category is phosphate fertilizer which is represented by monoammonium phosphate (MAP), Diammonium phosphate (DAP) and calcium hydrophosphate (DCP); another category is phosphoric acid and phosphate including sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP), which are widely applied in industry and fields of agriculture, food and medicine.

By the end of 2012, the production capacity of phosphate & compound fertilizer can reach about 22 million tons of P2O5 in China. DAP production capacity achieved 17.5 million tons, MAP 14 million tons, GTSP was 2 million tons, NP 1 million tons, and compound fertilizer 11 million tons, which phosphoric acid serves as its raw material, superphosphate and calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer was 30 million tons.
China has already established a complete set of production system of inorganic phosphorus, becoming the world’s largest producing country of inorganic phosphorus. There are about 60 to 70 types of products with large-scale production throughout the year, and about 500 manufacturing enterprises. By the end of 2012, domestic overall production capacity achieved 20 million tons with output of about 12.4 million tons.

As for the structure of consumer demand, approximately 76% of phosphorus ores are used in producing phosphate fertilizers (including MAP, DAP and triple superphosphate etc.) and the rest is used in extracting yellow phosphorus for making phosphoric acid and other phosphate products, which are mainly applied in the fields of feed, cleaning products, food, daily use chemicals and phosphorus containing pesticide etc.

The world’s largest phosphate fertilizer market is China, and the consumption volume accounts for 30% of global volume. In recent years, the increase of applying quantity of chemical fertilizer has reached to the plateau. But China has a large population with a rigid demand for grains, so the applying quantity of chemical fertilizer should be guaranteed, besides, some regions do not enjoy a sufficient fertilizing amount. Therefore, the demand for phosphate fertilizer will exhibit a trend of slow growth during the period of the 12th Five-Year Plan.

Fine phosphorous chemical products have a high technical barrier, which determines its certain development space in the future. During the period of the 12th Five-Year Plan, demand growth of fine phosphorous chemical products is about 4% every year. Fire retardant, antioxidant, surfactant, water treatment agent, agrochemicals, medical intermediate and medicine etc will the main development directions for future fine phosphorous chemical products.
