China’s air purifiers shows the upward trend, accounting for about 70% of the
world output; many enterprises mainly focus on the export. In 2012, the output
of China’s air purifier was about 9.78 million sets.
Currently, there are
more than 200 enterprises that produce air purifier in China, mainly in the
East China and South China. There are totally 192 air purifier manufacturers in
these two regions, accounting for 86% of the total number. Meanwhile, there are
6 manufacturers in Northeast China, accounting for 3%; 11 manufacturers in
North China, accounting for 5%; 7 manufacturers in Central China, accounting
for 3%; 7 manufacturers in Southwest China, accounting for 3%.
Compared with the
developed countries, China’s air purifier industry starts late; at present, the
foreign brands occupy the market shares of 80% above by virtue of their leading
technology advantages in China’s air purifier market, while the domestic brands
have less than 20% of market shares. The low market shares of domestic brands
are closely related to the short-term development of China’s air purifier
industry. Currently, Philips, Ya Du, Panasonic and Sharp has formed the four
leading roles in China’s market.

In terms of the
penetration rate of air purifiers, it reaches 27% in the US households, 17% in
Japan and less than 0.1% in China. The popularizing rate of household air
purifier is the highest in Beijing, reaching 16.2%. This shows that China’s air
